                           Release Notes for
                            CME 2 Software
                           Version 5.1 Beta 1

Copley Controls is actively working on support for Windows Vista. As of this
beta release, CME 2 will work under Windows Vista. There are, however a couple
of open issues:
1) When the installer first starts, a message is displayed by Windows stating
   that there is an unidentified program trying to access the computer. If you
   click the button to allow the installer to continue, CME 2 will be installed
   properly.

2) When CME 2 is started up for the first time (after being installed), Windows
   will display a message stating that CME 2 may not have been installed
   properly. Simply click the button to indicate that CME 2 was installed
   properly. CME 2 will then start and will operate normally from this point
   on.

3) The default file locations for CME 2's data files (ccx, ccm, etc.) are in the
   "Program Files/Copley Motion/CME 2" folder. Windows Vista does not allow
   programs to write to the Program Files folder; it re-directs the file
   writes to a separate users folder. All of CME 2's data folders will be
   under this path:
   C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramFiles\Copley Motion\CME 2
   Where "user name" is the account name displayed when logging in to Vista.
   Because the user account name is part of the path, it is recommended that
   CME 2 be run under the same user account until CME 2 fully supports Vista.
   If a user without administrative privileges logs in and runs CME 2, they will
   not be able to access any files created by CME 2 created when logged in
   under a different user account.

  Features Added Since V4.2
================================================================================

1) The Advanced Indexer Beans and Indexer 2 are now part of the standard CME 2
   installation.

2) A WaitForParameter bean has been added. This bean will wait for the value of
   a specified parameter to meet some condition (equal to, less than or equal to,
   etc.).

3) Auto Tune has been added for brushless linear motors. This new feature will
   auto tune the current, velocity and positions loops. It can be accessed either
   by a menu item in the Amplifier menu or a button on the toolbar.

4) Basic Setup has been re-designed. It is now a multi-step wizard. The first
   step shows the settings. From the first step, you can change settings, load
   a .ccx file or do the Servotube quick setup.

5) Added support for the following new amplifier families:
       XSJ Xenus Micro Panel.
       XTL (-S,-R) Xenus
       AMP MACRO Drive
       AEP Ethercat Drive.

6) Added support for the new RoHS version of the Stepnet Module with analog
   command capability.

7) A Hold Position check box was added to the I/O screen that will change the
   behavior of the positive and negative limit switch input configuration. When
   the check box is selected, the amplifier will hold position when in limit
   switch condition. This feature requires a firmware version of at least 5.02
   and only works in Position mode.

8) When configuring a Custom Position Triggered Output, Limited Position can
   now be chosen to trigger the output (previously only Actual Position was
   used). Triggering an output with Limited Position is used for stepper
   mode.

9) Added functionality to set up a three phase stepper motor on servo
   amplifiers (Accelnet, Xenus). This feature can be selected in the
   Motor Options step of the Basic Setup Wizard.

10) On the Trajectory Limits tab of the Digital Position Input screen, one
    button was added to clear the limits, and another button was added to
    restore default values for the limits.

11) Portions of the Control Panel have been re-designed.
     - In the Monitor section, The amplifier's operating mode is now displayed.
       If Camming is chosen as an operating mode, the active cam table will be
       displayed here also.
     - In the Control section, the Software Enable, Disable, and Jog Mode
       options have been replaced by an Enable and a Disable button.
     - A check box has been added to the Move/Jog section to enable/disable
       jogging.

12) The velocity loop output filter cut-off frequency has been added to the
    Gains tab of the Oscilloscope.

13) Added two new trace variables for the Oscilloscope: Hall States and Amplifier
    Temperature. Both of these variables are located in the Miscellaneous
    category.

14) Added functionality to program the FPGA on the AEP (Ethercat) and AMP (MACRO)
    amplifier families.

15) Added support for the new Copley Regen Resistors XTL-RA-03 and XTL-RA-04.

================================================================================
    Known Issues
================================================================================
General:

1) The F12 key, which acts as a software disable, does not work in the CVM
   Control Program screen.

================================================================================
    Installation procedures
================================================================================

The CD-ROM containing the software should automatically start the
installation wizard when the disk is inserted into your CD-ROM drive. If
this does not happen automatically, run the program "setup.exe" from the
CD-ROM.

We recommend running version 5.04 or later of the Xenus/Accelnet/Stepnet
firmware, and version 3.50 or later of the Accelus/Junus firmware. The
firmware can be obtained from our website: www.copleycontrols.com. Use the
Download Firmware command on the Tools menu of CME 2 to update the firmware.

================================================================================
    User documentation
================================================================================

Using CME 2 guides are available in .pdf format on the CD-ROM and will be
automatically placed in the "Program Files\Copley Motion\CME 2\Doc" folder
during the installation. A shortcut to this folder will be placed on your
desktop during the installation. The documents are also available on our
website:

www.copleycontrols.com.
